The hook and eye is a two-part closure which is attached to the waistband of a garment. It consists of a small metal bridge called the “eye” and a flat, curve-shaped metal tab called the “hook.” The garment is closed by “hooking the eye,” and the resulting tension keeps the waistband closed.
